Last week I got news that a friend of mine, whom I haven't seen in 18 years, passed away. We were never really close, but we attended the same church, participated in the Young Marrieds group (I guess we're a little ways past that at 27 plus years), and had children the same age. I was heart-broken to hear that she had suffered from breast cancer and then got leukemia from the treatment. Later that day, I was put-zing around in my stamp room and started playing with the Bigz Lattice Die. I cut it out and then ran it through the Stampin' Up! Finial Press Embossing Folder. It looked like this...
I just stared at it for awhile, not sure quite what to do with it...and then I saw a cross. Using a pair of paper snips, carefully cut out like this...
I ended up abandoning this idea and used a card that I made a while back for the sympathy card that I put in the mail. I was back in put-zing around in my stamp room today. I was actually getting ready for my Hostess Clubs this week, when I happened upon this cross again. I kept it in front of me as I prepared for my clubs and then this is what I eventually came up with...
It's simple and understated, but I really like it. I'm not sure about the greeting where I put it, but decided to try something outside of the box for me. I used Melon Mambo and Chocolate Chip.
Thanks for stopping by today! Blessings beyond measure ~ Lauri

this is a beautiful card (i like where you put with sympathy). I think you should send it in to stampin up!!!

How wonderful. Simple yet elegant. Guess I didn't even notice that die. Now maybe on my next order. For now, added to my "wish list".
